Buying/Upgrading Guide

Direct radiography equipment has significantly decreased in price over the last few years, although it can still be a big investment to smaller clinics. When we said we are a full-line, full service x-ray company, we mean it! here are some tips we put together to make your purchase or upgrade as stress free as possible.

Room Drawings

Whether you are fresh out of college or an experienced practitioner looking to open a new facility, our certified technicians have many years experience with x-ray rooms from the bottom up. Purchasing a building is a hassle within itself, so to make your job a little easier, you let us know what the size of the room is and we will draw a radiography room specifically tailored to your specifications.

Once the drawing is complete and you are satisfied we send it into the state for you. Opening a new clinic requires a lot of work and time, so don't worry about it. We'll handle it for you.

Lead Installation

If you have just purchased a new building, the next step is to install some lead within the walls and perhaps the door. Depending on how old the building is, it may need to be re-leaded as state laws have recently changed. If you know that the lead is 1/8" thick, you're covered. Most existing rooms are 1/16" as prior state laws required.

Buying New Equipment

All of our digital x-ray equipment and flatpanels are sold as new. We order them right from the manufacturer and install it into your practice.

Other equipment such as tube stands, wall stands, straight arm x-ray units, L-frames, variable distance tube stands and generators can all be purchased as new as well. Price will significantly vary between manufacturers and style of equipment, although if there was anything specific you were looking for, send us an email and we will let you know if we haev it.

Buying Pre-owned Equipment

Pre-owned x-ray equipment is the choice for many of our customers. The price is substantially less than brand new units, especially high frequency generators. Almost all of our pre-owned generators are single- phase as high frequency is still fairly new to the world of radiography. In short terms, the only job a generator is to produce x-rays; although high frequency units require less radiation dose to patients.

Price Estimate

To put things in perspective, we have made an outline of what some of our equipment would cost.

New Direct Radiography Flatpanel Detector

A new direct digital system generally sits around $350/month. We do not offer in house financing, although we strongly recommend all of our customers to go through the CFCU as we have a strong relationship with them.

Pre-owned Computed Radiography Equipment

Computed Radiography was the first wave of digital x-ray using phosphor cassettes to capture energry from x-ray tubes. These units are generally sold for $10,000 - $20,000.

New High Frequency Generators

High Frequency units were introduced quite some time ago, although they will last you many, many years. High frequency rooms cost an average of $40,000 + depending on manufacturer and OEM.

All other pre-owned x-ray

In general, a single phase full radiography room will cost around $10,000 - $15,000. That includes generator, wall stand, fixed or variable distance tube stand and bucky mount. Different manufacturers may vary upon price.

If you have any other questions, send us an email or give us a call and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
